The meeting will be attend by the representative of Embassies in Italy of the the invited Countries to the First International Summit of Small-Scale Cocoa Producers Countries.
Themes: High value of cocoa, through specialization or development of nichemarkets.
Examples: organic cocoa; fine or flavour cocoa; origin cocoa; farmer-origin chocolate; "rain forest" cocoa; "sustainable cocoa" (under development by ICCO).
Higher productivity on cocoa farms, through better planting material; more effective pest and disease management; better shade management; optimal use of fertilizers; better weeding and pruning; best post-harvest practices.
